In the middle of the city of Granada there is the Huerta de San Vicente, which was Family Federico Garcia Lorca's summer house from 1926 to 1936. Here you will find a well-conserved treasure of the poet and his family, where you will revive some of the most remarkable moments of his career.

SUMMER HOUSE OF THE LORCA FAMILY

In June 1898 one of the most brilliant poets in the history of Spain was born in Fuente Vaqueros, Granada: Federico García Lorca. The poet had a clear vocation for music, but his father did not like it, so he studied Humanities and Law.

Lorca did not stand out for being a brilliant student, but he was strongly influenced by his mother, Vicenta Lorca Romero, who at that time had been a school teacher for some time, and whose university degree is still intact in the Lorca family home, together with that of her son Federico. She was one of the people who took a decisive role in instilling a passion for culture and literature in her children, and it was precisely Federico García Lorca who excelled in this facet.

LORCA AND HIS LOVE FOR MUSIC

Lorca's house in Huerta de San Vicente, Granada, still retains the vestiges of an era in full cultural effervescence. Armchairs, paintings, tables, kitchen... you can almost smell the dishes that were prepared in that kitchen, remains untouched by the passage of time.

Of his love of music, in Lorca's summer house, the piano he used to play is still preserved, as well as other works of art and drawings. A house where you can breathe the poet's soul, as well as his references and inspirations.

Visit the room where Lorca used to drink the famous coffees that served as a muse for his plays in Teatro de la Barraca, the poet's university theatre. In the room still hangs the famous poster that accompanied his theatre tour of Spain.

Accompanying the people, Lorca wanted to bring culture closer and democratise it through this project, during the Second Republic.

Some of the most famous visitors who have not wanted to miss this precious place have been singers such as Sting or the actor Andy Garcia, on the occasion of the presentation of the film Muerte en Granada (Death in Granada).
