Flamenco Biennial in Granada: Culture in Its Purest Form
From the Albaicín to Sacromonte, the city’s most iconic spots are filled with art, song, and dance. Granada celebrates its First Flamenco Biennial
For the first time, the city of Granada will host the inaugural edition of the Flamenco Biennial, an event that pays tribute to this art form, so distinctive of our culture and heritage. Cante, toque and baile will merge starting on September 5th in a celebration that is not only a homage to the history of flamenco, but also a testament to the international recognition this genre has achieved. Renowned flamenco artists will take part, alongside rising talents destined to take center stage in the coming years.
This cultural event aims to establish Granada as a benchmark in the flamenco world—an art declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2010. Held every two years, the Biennial will open together with the City of Granada Orchestra in a concert featuring works by Georges Bizet, Amadeo Vives, Juan Vert and Reveriano Soutullo, Ruperto Chapí, Tomás Bretón, Manuel de Falla, Antonio Robledo and Enrique Morente.
Granada’s Streets Dance to the Rhythm of Flamenco
For twenty-two days, Granada dresses its streets in faralaes, with stages set in the city’s Bullring, the enchanting Patio de los Aljibes in the Alhambra, and the historic Sacromonte Abbey, among other spaces that reflect the essence and character of Granada. The Palace of Charles V, an emblematic landmark in the city’s history, also joins the program.
Alongside renowned artists, the Biennial features “emerging talent” within the Flamenco Ñ cycle, which brings flamenco into the neighborhoods through proposals such as "Cuando el Albaicín suena, flamenco lleva and Balcones al flamenco"

The schedule also includes the flamenco film series La Granada flamenca de José Sánchez Montes, free educational workshops for families, and an itinerary through Granada’s traditional guitar workshops, among other activities.
The Flamenco Biennial thus emerges as one of the finest cultural options for lovers of music and Andalusian tradition, offering a unique way to experience Granada through its culture, roots, and values.
Hotel Alhambra Palace: Flamenco with History
To speak of Hotel Alhambra Palace is also to speak of flamenco—flamenco more alive today than ever. After more than 115 years, our little theatre continues to fill with art, song, and dance. This genre, immune to trends and deeply rooted in Granada’s popular culture, remains at the heart of our identity.

Even today, you can enjoy an intimate flamenco performance at Hotel Alhambra Palace with Alhambra Baila—an emotional experience where the magic of a place full of life, passion, and history becomes one of the unforgettable memories of your trip to Granada. Its uniqueness is striking: one of Spain’s most historic hotels with a theatre of its own.
